Parent involvement

Parents and citizens association (P&C)

The members of the P & C, the staff and principal would like to welcome all new students to the school and would like to welcome any new parents to join the P& C Association to help with making any decisions concerning their child's schooling. The P & C meet each month in the staff room. Date and time are advised in our weekly newsletter. All parents are welcome to join this interested group.

Aboriginal education group

The members of this group are interested in Aboriginal Education at Tingha Public School. They have developed an Aboriginal Education Plan with the support from the AERT. These members also oversee the programs funded through PSPI (Parent School Partnership Initiatives). If you are interested in joining this group see  Paul Munro (AEO).

Aboriginal education consultative group (AECG)

The members of this group are also interested in Aboriginal Education and its students. AECG is part of a tri-level organisation—local, regional, state. The local AECG has reconvened in 2005. If you are interested in joining this group see Alex Munro.

School in partnership (SIP) advisory group

This community elected group is responsible for decisions about improving outcomes for students at Tingha Public School. The group at this stage consists of 4 AECG members, 2 P & C members, 2 Teachers Federation members and the principal. Collaborative decision making and community consultancy are the main focuses of this group.

Parent helpers

Many parents have maintained a close relationship with the school by involving themselves as parent helpers I the classroom. These parents provide an invaluable service in assisting with reading groups, maths groups, covering library books, making resources, art and craft groups and the canteen. If you are interested in assisting in this manner please speak to your child's teacher. Any assistance will be gratefully accepted.

Scripture teachers

A dedicated group of local parent, community members and the clergy assist with Scripture classes each week. If you are interested in joining this group please contact the school or one of the regular Scripture teachers.

The canteen

Our canteen is currently run by volunteers. Parents are always needed to help in the canteen on a rostered basis. If you would like to help please contact the office. You don't need to stay all day or even serve at the counter—any help would be appreciated.
